Martin Šalacha was born in Zalužice. After graduating from grammar school, he studied acting at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava. In 2011 he successfully auditioned for the DAB acting ensemble in Nitra and became an in-house member. Apart from the Nitra theatre, the audience could see him in several productions of other Slovak theatres. He has made guest appearances at the Slovak National Theatre, the New Stage Theatre, the Slovak Chamber Theatre in Martin, the LUDUS Theatre and the Astorka Theatre. He became a member of the SND Drama Theatre in 2018. He regularly works with the independent theatre company Teatro Tatro. He also works in television and has successfully portrayed characters in several series and films.

2015 - Literary Fund Award for the character of Francis Henshall in the production of The Servant of Two Bosses, taking into account the character of the First Twin in the production of The Notebook
2016 - Literary Fund Award for the character of Norman Bassett's production of From Hand to Hand
2017 - Literary Fund Award for the character of Milan Rastislav Štefánik in the production of the play Štefánik - Solar Eclipse, taking into account the character of Jánošík
